New to the water industry? This is the class for you! 

Gain fundamental industry knowledge to put you on the path to success in your career. Water 101 is an introductory class designed to explain the need-to-know basics about our industry from water utility governance, drivers, and procurement processes to the urban water cycle, and where your efforts and products fit in the big picture. This course is geared toward new members of the water industry representing organizations such as consulting and engineering firms, product manufacturers, and distributors, but all are welcome and encouraged to attend.

  • Top 5 Things You Need to Know About Water. As a new water professional, learn the most critical facts about the industry.
  • Food-Energy-Water Nexus Meets the Urban Water Cycle. Economical, environmental, and human drivers that propel the water industry.
  • Water Vernacular and Process Insights. Guide to essential acronyms, terms, definitions, and common treatment processes to speak the language when working with water and wastewater utilities.
  • Regulatory, Permitting, and Procurement Processes. Information to guide you through regulatory drivers, permitting processes, and procurement.
  • Utility Governance, Structure, and Key Decision Makers. Know who and how to contact at water utilities to maximize probability of successful professional relationships. 
  • Supporting Water Organizations - How Do I Fit In? Navigate the wide array of associations, foundations, C&E firms, manufacturers, and other water organizations and how your organization and work fits into the big picture. 
  • Plus, in-person attendees will go on tours of The Water Tower Global Innovation Hub and the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center.

In Person and Virtual Registration Options

  • Registration (in-person): $79 per attendee, includes lunch and tours of The Water Tower and F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center.
  • Registration (virtual): $59 per attendee, does not include lunch or tours.

Logistics

Doors will open at 8:00 and class will be from 8:30am – 1:00pm at The Water Tower (2500 Clean Water Court Buford, Georgia 30519). In-person attendees must wear closed toe, flat bottom shoes in order to attend the FWH WRC Tour (PPE will be provided).

Virtual registrants will receive a link two days before the event.
